Yoga

Developing a yoga practice is one of the many opportunities we create to cultivate deep reflection and healing. I have been teaching yoga for about 15 years now and have experienced profound changes through my role as a teacher and as a student myself. Below you will find my local offerings for ongoing class series and workshops.

Monthly Core and Restore Yoga

This class is designed to activate deep, inner core muscles with strength-building movement before moving into a state of deep relaxation. The first half of class will focus on core-based movement and the second half of class focuses on gentle postures supported by bolsters, blocks, and blankets. I use somatic adjustments and essential oils to help guide you to the deepest state of relaxation.

Yoga

What initially drew me to yoga was the emotional freedom that I felt as I moved through the physical postures. They supplied my mind with something to focus on, and ultimately, came to alleviate my stress and anxiety. I felt increased flexibility, better balance, and considerably greater strength than I ever had before. As I developed a deeper relationship with my practice, I came to understand yoga as a movement-based therapy.

In 2010, I trained in the Prana Flow Yoga modality, created by Shiva Rea and taught by Micheline Berry. I attained my 200-hour certification and have since completed numerous trainings at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health and the Asheville Yoga Center (you can find my full resume here). I am excited about the resources, knowledge, and experience that I combine to offer my students the most well-rounded classes possible.

Yoga is a sacred practice combining ecstatic movement, chanting, breath-work, and stillness. A simple search on the internet will provide a curious person with an endless supply of medical studies on the benefits of regular yoga practice. But diving into the practice and finding the inherent wisdom of yoga for yourself is even more convincing.
