Connection to nature
Restoring your spirit through the Earth
I believe that connecting to nature - forming a relationship with our earth- is the best medicine. Cultivating a bond with the land is a transformative act. It grounds us, quiets the mind, and reminds us that we are part of a living, breathing ecosystem. It also soothes our nervous systems.
Whether you approach this through a scientific, spiritual, or purely practical lens, the earth is a gift that belongs to us all. Each time we meet, we will spend time outside throughout the day, and then engage in a specific, nature-centered activity at the end of each day.
Practices
Nature Meditations and Plant Walks: Even the simplest walk through a garden, a yard, or a local trail allows us to experience so much. We will practice gentle, restorative techniques to tune into natural rhythms—perfect for beginners and often the highlight of the day.
Nature Journaling: A slow-paced creative class with guest speaker Heidi Colburn on capturing the beauty of the wild. She teaches different techniques in the art of nature journaling.
Botanical Sketching: Observe specific plants in their natural environment and tune into the subtleness of the plants the way a scientist might. You do not need to be an artist, you just need a curious mind!
Plant Mandalas: A hands-on practice to cultivate presence, self-inquiry, and artistic expression.
Nature-Inspired Crafts: Ethically collecting various seeds, nuts, and other natural artifacts allows us to create beautiful decorations in our homes without ordering goods manufactured and shipped from all over the world.
Altar building: We will learn how to design altars that help you bring nature into your home in a meaningful way.

The
Rhythm of
our Day
Our days are guided by the sun and the seasons. As the weather warms, we may shift our walks to the cool of the morning or seek the shade of the forest for our observations. This flexibility allows us to stay in tune with the natural world and the shifting patterns of the garden.

-
9:00 am
-
Herb Club: This is a quiet time for plant chats in the garden or observing wild plants currently growing and in bloom. For those choosing to dive deeper, you will have the opportunity to do a bit of homework each month and join in enriching our shared knowledge to help kickoff each Sunday. Learn more below.
-
-
10:00 am
-
Opening Circle & Centering: We transition our day as a community. Together, we’ll share a clearing sage and a brief session of gentle movement and breathwork—often held outside to ground ourselves in the morning air.
-
-
10:30 am
-
The Morning Apothecary: Time to get hands-on! This session blends foundational lecture with active remedy-making. We’ll dive into the science and the "how-to" of our botanical preparations.
-
-
12:30 pm
-
Midday Rest & Nourishment: Enjoy a break to recharge. You are welcome to picnic by our babbling brook or find a peaceful nook on the property. If you’d like to explore the area, local favorites like Fiddleheads Café and the Hancock Market are just a mile away.
-
-
1:30 pm
-
The Afternoon Formulation: Our second hands-on session focuses on deeper herbal exploration. We will continue our remedy-making and take a closer look at the specific healing benefits and applications of the herbs we are studying.
-
-
3:30 pm
-
Nature Immersion & Creative Flow: We close our day with a nature-based activity: plant meditation, botanical sketching, plant mandalas, a nature-based craft, etc.

The Herb Club
Deepen your journey at your own pace.
For those who crave a bit more immersion, I invite you to participate in The Herb Club. It is a little extra "homework" between sessions that will encourage you to deep dive some plants.
How it works:
-
Each month, I will suggest one or two "featured herbs" currently in bloom in our local wild spaces.
-
During the one month timespan between sessions, you will have the opportunity to observe these plants in their natural habitat, noticing their habits and personality, do a bit of research, and to make herbal monographs of each.
-
During the 9 - 10 am timeframe on class Sundays, we will learn about these plants together, share our findings, and discuss what we’ve learned from our time with the plants.
No pressure, just plants. You can "do your homework" every month, one or two times, or skip it entirely. This is a low-pressure activity for those who want to spend a little extra time between sessions in nature's classroom. Even if you skip or opt out of the homework, this time will still be a fantastic opportunity to learn about the plants!

"You do not need a garden to have access to healing herbs and plants."

Is this journey for you?
Nature’s medicine is available to everyone—whether you have a sprawling backyard or live in the heart of the town. You do not need a garden to become a skilled herbalist.

-
The Nature Seeker: Those looking to slow down, quiet the noise, and cultivate a deeper, more intentional connection to the natural world.

We are blessed with a beautiful brook running through our property, wild birds and wildlife, and shaded woodlands throughout. We have been working hard to tend to some long forgotten gardens and planting a fruit orchard, while also embracing all of the wild medicine available on the land.

about
My name is Jillian... 🌿
Being a "witch" to me is not about wearing all black or having a green face covered in warts. Being a witch is about nature-based spirituality- a theme that can be found in all religions that grace this earth.
I believe that there is nothing witchier than throwing on a pair of old jeans and digging in the dirt, observing the birds at the feeder with a curious mind, or harvesting wild "weeds" in season and turning them into herbal remedies. Connection to nature is what heals us, sustains us, and gives us purpose in life.
I love herbs, nature, breathwork, remedy making, wildlife, and movement-based therapy. Teaching is my passion. Come learn with me. I promise it is fun (I tell terrible jokes) and working with herbs in a mindful way is enlightening (you will find out new things about yourself). It will truly enrich your life to find deep connection with plant wisdom.
